The joy of being in Brazil is always fascinating and it’s common for people to want to check out the natural attractions in the country.
One particular attraction we wanted to see was the Iguazu Falls.
The Iguazu Falls are situated along the Brazilian border and is a gorgeous sight.
We found our experience here to be magical and it’s worth seeing for yourself.
For those who want to learn more about going to the Iguazu Falls, we are going to shed light on the attraction in this guide.
Where Are The Iguazu Falls?
One of the unique parts of the Iguazu Falls has to do with the location.
It is situated right along the border between Brazil and Argentina. For the most part, a majority of the falls are on the Argentinian side but it’s a breeze to cross over and it’s common for people to do this when they are in the area.
It’s important to know the Iguazu Falls are extensive. This means you are going to see a wide array of waterfalls spread throughout the area across a significant distance.
For a more accurate assessment of the location, it is in southern Brazil along the state of Parana. On the Argentinian side, it’s in the north in the Misiones province.

Opening Hours Of Iguazu Falls
Since you are going to be entering the area, it’s essential to make sure you are coming during opening hours.
Otherwise, you won’t be able to get in!
In general, the Brazilian side is going to open at 9 AM and then run until 6 PM. However, they tend to close the entrance gate earlier for those who don’t have tickets.
The Argentinian side has longer hours and will open an hour earlier (8 AM to 6 PM).
Best Time To Visit Iguazu Falls
We know you are going to want to come during the best time of the year in this region.

For the most part, it’s okay to come at any time of the year but you will likely want to enjoy a beautiful viewpoint and that’s between May and September.
We do feel it’s important to pay attention to the calendar. It can become too busy during the holidays if you are not careful and that’s frustrating.

In general, the best option is going to be where the majority of the waterfalls are, which would be on the Argentinian side of the border. However, it’s also important to note that you are going to have a lovely time on the Brazilian side due to the viewpoint too.
It simply comes down to how you want to experience the Iguazu Falls.

Things To Do At Iguazu Falls
Parque das Aves
When we were visiting the Iguazu Falls, we would often notice the birds in the sky.
It’s a charming place and due to the weather, it tends to attract a wide array of bird species all in one place. This is a charming element for bird lovers and it’s an exceptional experience when you visit the nearby bird sanctuary named Parque das Aves.
It’s easy to get to from the falls and you are going to get to see the types of birds you won’t in other parts of the world.
Devil’s Throat
When you are coming to see the Iguazu Falls, you are going to want to get as close as possible. A lot of tourists will want to experience the underlying power of the waterfalls and that’s only possible by going to what is known as “The Devil’s Throat” and it can be loads of fun.
This is in the center of the waterfalls where there are cascades.
We highly recommend experiencing this area and you can take a train to the spot.
Safari
We have mentioned how the area around the Iguazu Falls is relatively empty. There is ample greenery and it’s often exciting to explore it to your heart’s content.
You can often take a guided tour through the jungle while getting to see the various plants, wildlife, and natural elements in the region. The guide will often take you in a jeep and let you experience everything noticeable in the area.
Jet Boats
One of the most exciting things to do at the Iguazu Falls would have to be the jet boating that takes place in the water.
Yes, you can rent a jet boat and then ride it around the area. It is a fascinating experience to have the waterfalls nearby as you are racing around in the water with your jet boat. When the water flow is good, the experience is even better in the warmer months!
Private Tours
One option we often recommend is taking a private day tour of the Iguazu Falls.
This is going to incorporate a wide array of activities and sights along the waterfalls. This includes being able to check out the Devil’s Throat but also other elements of the waterfalls. You can enjoy this by taking the time to explore the greenery, check out the waterfalls, and then learn more about the local stories surrounding their presence.
We had a lovely time as the guided tour gave the Iguazu Falls a life of their own.
How To Prepare For Trip To Iguazu Falls
If it’s time to go to the Iguazu Falls, you are going to have to prepare for it.
One of the most important things you will want to bring is a waterproof jacket because the mist in the air is going to be noticeable. It is going to get your clothes wet and that’s not always a pleasant experience when you are going to be out all day.
We would also recommend having a towel to dry yourself off and buying high-quality sunscreen. This is going to protect you from the sun’s rays when you are walking outdoors throughout the day.
If you are going to be crossing the border then it’s best to bring your passport. This is the only way you are going to be allowed on the other side of the border safely.
It’s also best to have cash on hand and make sure you are wearing comfortable clothes. This is going to ensure you can walk around and not have to worry about what you are wearing the entire time.
Most people are only going to be coming to the Iguazu Falls for a day or so. This means you won’t need to pack anything but some people do prefer to stay at one of the local hotels that have a view of the Iguazu Falls.
This is up to you.
If you are going to do so, we would recommend taking one of the guided tours through the jungle to add to your itinerary.
