El Acuario & Haynes Cay

Sometimes, it’s the overall joy of being on an island that’s going to win you over.

For something like that, it’s best to head out to the smaller islands (El Acuario and Haynes Cay). We appreciate these islands because they give you the more traditional elements of a beach vacation where the water is clear, the sand is warm, and the aquatic wildlife is all around you.

It’s a lovely experience and quite a breathtaking sight too.

Johnny Cay Natural Regional Park

Most people going to San Andres in Colombia will be thinking about the beautiful Johnny Cay Natural Regional Park.

Just heading out into the water is going to let you admire the colors.

Biking Around The Island

San Andres Island is a beautiful place.

It’s quiet, small, and allows you to explore all of its elegance without too much effort. This is why we appreciate the idea of renting a bike or getting a mode of transportation that’s going to let you see everything.

You might even see some people pick up a golf cart if they are given the chance.

It’s not going to cost a lot and it will be fun exploring everything around the island.

San Andres Island Mangroves (Parque Nacional Manglares De Old Point)

Most people are not going to know about this beautiful area.

This is an attraction that has been set up naturally with the idea of protecting its natural beauty. This is a reserve that is close by and it’s going to let you enjoy the overall aesthetic of the place once you are there.

El Hoyo Soplador

Imagine going out and then getting to see water bursting out of a natural hole.

It’s something you are not going to expect on a trip out to an island but that’s precisely what you are going to get to see at El Hoyo Soplador.

It is a blowhole that pushes water out and it is quite the sight.

You will often see people watch from afar and then you get to enjoy the local eateries that are nearby.

Island Boat Tour

With so much water around, you are going to be excited to jump right in.

If you are in a situation such as this, we would highly recommend the island boat tour on San Andres Island. This is one of those tours that’s going to appeal to you and is going to let you soak in the sun out in the open.

West View

San Andres Island is renowned for offering a variety of sights that are going to be different from anything else you’re going to see in the region.

This includes the breathtaking West View.

What is West View on San Andres Island?

West View is a delightful part of the island where you are going to have access to a park where people can dive and use the water slide that has been set up. It’s fun and it is affordable too.

On San Andres Island, you’ll notice that the East Coast is full of white sand beaches while the west side of the island is mostly rocky. In my opinion, the west coast has the most tranquil waters, especially when the prominent easterly winds blow.

One of the most popular attractions on the west coast of San Andres is a small little area called “Eco Parque West View”. This is a perfect place for swimming and jumping off the diving board into crystal-clear water. There’s even a large water slide and the onsite bar sells beers and snacks.

Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana

Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana is a church on San Andres Island.

What makes this a special church that you are going to want to visit? It is a historic church and the first one that was set up on the island.

It is still active and being able to go there is going to be ideal for those who want to get a better feel for the community locally.

Go To San Luis & La Loma

There are quieter parts of San Andres Island that you are going to want to consider.

This includes San Luis and La Loma.

These are quaint areas where people are more laidback and you are going to have a slower lifestyle unfold in front of you. We like this because it’s chilled out and that is useful when you just want to enjoy the natural beauty around you.

El Mirador

There are specific areas on the island that are popular.

This is one of them.

El Mirador is a viewpoint that is going to be a great place to be as the sun sets. This is due to how the sun sets in this area and the view you are going to get to see as soon as you are at this vantage point on the island.

We do recommend doing this at least once while you are on the trip during the evening.

It’s an exceptional sight and something you are not going to get to see every day.

Laguna Big Pond

This is not a natural sight.

It’s been designed by the local government but it’s fascinating because you are going to get to explore the vegetation in the area along with the alligators.

Yes, there are alligators here!

This is a lot of fun because it is different from everything else you are going to get to see on San Andres Island and that makes it unique.

Yes, there is such a thing as helmet diving.
